Vessel of Peace
The Vessel of Peace is a very special gift – a decorative ceramic bowl that you can hold in the palm of your hand as as an invocation for peace and healing. Reminding one of ancient shards of glass found in the deserts of the region, it is created by an Israeli artist for Beyond Words, an organization that offers a unique context for healing and reconciliation between Israelis and Palestinians. As Nitsan Gordon-Giles, the Founder of Beyond Words so poignantly remarks: “this vessel is a testament to the darkness that is a part of all of us. It invites us to face our darkness and bring it into light for only then do we discover the gifts and hidden treasures within our own darkness. This is part of our work at Beyond Words.”

Beyond Words is a non-profit organization who sees its mission as one that promotes the empowerment of women, the healing of emotional wounds and traumas and the undermining of prejudice as a path towards building peace in Israel.
Through an innovative series of workshops and trainings, they offer Arab and Jewish women the opportunity to see that beyond all the differences in culture, tradition and religion – there is so much more that they share as women, mothers, and wives. Women standing on the edges of ancient wounds gather together in circle and learn to understand and respect their differences whilst exploring their deeper similarities. Beyond Words believes that in a society where the struggles between Arabs and Jews have lasted for so many years, there is an incredible potency when women from the two sides of the conflict are able to work together rebuilding trust and promoting reconciliation and peace.
