These beautiful napkins are hand printed using hand-carved wooden blocks, mud mixed with other natural materials, and eco-friendly dye. The mud resists the dye and leaves behind unique patterns that vary slightly with each piece.
These pair perfectly with our indigo placemats and indigo table runner.
Each napkin measures approximately 20 x 20" each; 100% cotton (soft); machine washable.
All of our products are shipped with cards containing information about fair trade and the corresponding artisan group.
ABOUT THE ARTISANS
These textiles were made in Rajasthan, India by families that have passed down the art of block printing for centuries. Using a technique called "dabu printing," each family carves their own patterns into blocks and prints with those blocks using mud. When they dye the fabric, the mud resists the dye and leaves the unique patterns behind. The artisans work in favorable conditions, earn a living wage, and are able to sustain themselves and their families.
