These gorgeous placemats are handmade by stitching 2 up-cycled saris together using the traditional kantha embroidery technique. Each placemat is made of lightweight cotton and is completely unique - each side contains different colors and patterns. 

They make a nice set with our kantha table runner.

Each measures approximately 13 x 18"; 100% cotton; machine washable.

All of our products are shipped with cards containing information about fair trade and the corresponding artisan group.

ABOUT THE ARTISANS

This textile was hand quilted in rural West Bengal, India by women who learned it from generations of family members who have passed down the craft. They use up-cycled saris and the traditional kantha stitching technique to create truly re-purposed and functional works of art. They're paid well and have been able to improve their lives through partnerships with Fair Trade businesses.
