ABOUT THE ARTISANS

The talented women who make this jewelry live in the impoverished region of Kibera in Nairobi, Kenya. The women work in a fair trade workshop where they have the opportunity to engage in an entrepreneurship program, learning to run their own businesses.  They have steady, full time income with benefits.  The goal is to provide opportunities for the women to support their families through innovation and design.  The raw materials for the jewelry are sourced in Kenya and supplies are also bought locally.
